The security standards for the G7 summit in Elmau are extremely high – at least until Tuesday.
Police officers from Austria had to break off their mission prematurely – because of bed bugs.
Vienna – The police presence around the G7 summit in Elmau is enormous.
For security measures from Munich airport on the way to the summit in Elmau, 18,000 officers are deployed, including 500 Tyrolean officers.
According to the Bavarian Minister of the Interior, Joachim Herrmann (CSU), this includes defending against the threat of terrorism, drone attacks and demonstrations.
The use, which should cost around 170 million, is not oversized.

As the Austrian
Kronen Zeitung
reports, the Tyrolean police officers were stationed in the Axamer Lizum in the Stubai Alps in Tyrol (Austria).
In the accommodation there, however, there was a rude awakening for some officials.
Under the radar despite all safety precautions, blood hungry bed bugs were at work.
Their victims: police officers who, among other things, should be used for identity checks near the border.
Because of the bed bug alarm, according to
the Krone
Task Force officers sent home.
The property was said to be infested with bed bugs.
A spokesman for the Tyrolean police confirmed the incident to the newspaper.
The police spokesman was unable to provide any information about the exact number of those affected.
But only a few felt the effects.
"Since a reduction in personnel was planned anyway, all three trains of the Tyrol task force were withdrawn from the Lizum.
That's 80 police officers."
Bed bugs can cause itching like hell
Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) can cause extremely itchy and severe allergic skin reactions.
Because, the pear-shaped, hairy tiny creatures secrete a substance when they bite, which can cause not only sleep disorders but also severe allergic reactions.
According to experts, antihistamine ointments help.
The good news: Bed bugs do not transmit diseases and are therefore not notifiable in Austria and Germany.
That is why there is no data on their distribution.
Bed bugs travel around the world in suitcases and bags.
An unmistakable sign of a bug infestation are traces of feces: small black dots on the wallpaper and bed frame.
Then only a professional pest controller can help.
Bed bugs are a taboo subject: researchers have discovered that the parasites have a favorite color.
