The “flyover structure” at the height of the Kirchseeoner Moos could look something like this.

However, the railway points out that this example cannot be used to “visualize” the specific buildings near Kirchseeon.

The bridge structure in the east of Kirchseeon, which is to be built in the course of the northern inflow of the Brenner, will be quite a feature.

Kirchseeon/district – The railway “flyover structure” in the east of Kirchseeon could be around 8.5 meters high.

There are railroad tracks on top.

The faster passenger trains on the "upper floor", the majority of the slower and louder freight trains on the "ground floor" - on the level new line.

This could be the division at the "bridge".

The background is the planning of the access to the Brenner Base Tunnel.

The structure is necessary because between the Grafing train station and Kirchseeon the additional new two tracks coming from the east will be connected to the two tracks of the existing line.

In short: four become two.

There are also two S-Bahn tracks.

When asked about noise protection at this point, the railways said: "In the area of the flyover structure itself, the new line is actually enclosed." That means: the lower part with the louder freight trains.

The planning in the section and thus also the integration of the new line into the existing are still in a very early stage and therefore still relatively rough.

In the following service phases, the planning would be deepened and optimized.

Northern approach to the Brenner: Bahn presents “Preferential Road” on July 13th

Further planning is already in the area of Grafing train station in the direction of Ostermünchen.

A “priority route” is to be presented for this purpose on Wednesday, July 13.

Irrespective of this, the new line in the area north of Grafing would be integrated into the existing infrastructure for all five variants of the route.

In order to maintain an efficient track system, the integration of the new line into the existing structure must be "height-free", according to the railway.

For a basic classification, the representations of a flyover near Eltersdorf can be used, according to the railway.

However, it is important to note that each building is designed individually based on different factors such as the local topography, the longitudinal gradients, required curves and the position and geometry of the crossing routes.

The example "cannot be used to visualize the specific buildings in the Grafing-Ostermünchen section," according to the railway.

For example, the steep gradients shown in the figure could only be used on S-Bahn routes without freight traffic.

This is how the railway noise working group sees the possible situation in the "bridge" with two trains on top of each other, higher than a two-story house.

Northern access to the Brenner: “Therefore, integration must take place north of Grafing”

The "Bahnlärm Kirchseeon working group" assumes that coming from Grafing station, a ramp of around 1100 meters will be necessary due to the ascending terrain.

Then follow a flat stretch of about 400 meters at a height of 8.5 meters.

Then it would go back down an 800 meter long ramp.

Finally, a shorter stretch of "warping" to bring the tracks together.

This point is roughly at the back of the high school and vocational training center.

The railway explains why the structure has to be at this point: The planning had shown that the new line could not be integrated directly into Grafing station.

The reason is the local conditions and the lack of space for the required throw.

“The integration must therefore take place north of Grafing.

There are no plans to continue the new line beyond that.”

Brenner northern approach: "The trains will be heard from afar."

This is exactly what causes the working group for noise protection through the town and beyond considerable concern.

He calls for noise protection for the entire route according to the "new construction standard", which is higher than for an existing route.

The local criticism is growing, as could be seen at an event in the ATSV hall at the end of May.

At the time, it was said about the “flyover structure” and its height: “The trains will be heard from afar.”
