The Council of Ministers, in its weekly session today, headed by Engineer Hussein Arnous, assigned the concerned ministries to count all the damages that occurred in the service, agricultural and development sectors and private properties as a result of the climatic conditions that occurred recently in Lattakia Governorate.

The Council stressed the exertion of maximum efforts to restore full services to all affected areas as quickly as possible and compensate those affected, and stressed the continuous coordination between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Directorate of Meteorology with regard to forecasting highly effective weather conditions to take all necessary precautions to reduce damage.

The Council was briefed by the Minister of Electricity on the work of rehabilitating the damage caused to the electrical network due to the recent weather conditions, explaining that work is continuing intensively around the clock to recharge all affected areas.

In another context, the Council of Ministers stressed the need to prepare a declared and studied program for agricultural irrigation in each governorate in coordination between the Ministries of Agriculture and Water Resources in order to achieve justice in distributing irrigation water to all cultivated areas, and at the same time requested to expedite the completion of the incentives system for each ministry in line with the general framework The incentives recently approved by the Council with the aim of improving the reality of workers in production sites.

The Council renewed its emphasis on providing full support to the pharmaceutical industry sector to ensure the continued securing of the local market's need of all types of pharmaceuticals, and requested the concerned authorities to intensify the tours to prevent any manipulation of drug prices and to hold violators accountable.

Engineer Arnous stressed the importance of presenting new ideas and visions to develop the reality of work in various economic, service and development sectors, and the necessity of field follow-up to see the reality of providing services and to stand on citizens’ problems in a way that secures services in the best way, expressing the council’s appreciation for the efforts made by workers to restore Damascus International Airport to service in record time and in accordance with Certified international standards.

The Council discussed two bills amending the amount of the monthly inspection compensation for workers in each of the Central Authority for Oversight and Inspection and the Central Organization for Financial Control and agreed to complete the procedures for their issuance.

The council approved the criteria and principles governing the selection of department heads in the administrative development directorates in the ministries, and studied the decision regulating appointment and contracting with people with disabilities.

It also discussed a draft legislative instrument specifying certification references for lease, sale and investment contracts conducted by administrative units in a way that guarantees the rights of these units to invest their real estate in an optimal manner and enhance their financial revenues in a way that reflects positively on the services they provide.

The council reviewed the Ministry of Tourism’s plan to encourage and promote seasonal tourism during the current summer, and stressed the need to develop the reality of popular tourism and expand it in various regions, improve the reality of services provided in centers designated for popular tourism, and provide the required support and facilities, taking into account the conditions of safety and public health, in a way that contributes to the revitalization of popular tourism among all provinces.

The council approved a number of priority service and development projects in a number of governorates.
