Bad Wiessee - More than 60 members and citizens are involved in the construction of the traditional costume hut in the Kurpark Abwinkl in Bad Wiessee.

Now it was the celebration.

The new traditional costume hut in the Kurpark Abwinkl will be a real gem.

The homeland and folk costume association Bad Wiessee builds there in-house.

Over 60 helpful members and generous citizens participate on a voluntary basis.

Now it was the celebration.

"So far, around 1,600 hours of work have been done," reported the association's board member, Georg Erlacher.

In September 2021, the Bad Wiessee municipality approved the new building, so that work could begin at the beginning of October and the foundations were laid before Christmas.

There was a lot of woodwork to be done in winter.

Opening of the traditional hut at the end of 2023

The stately, rustic building, which is now in the middle of the Abwinkler Kurpark, measures 9x16 meters and is primarily intended for youth work.

A large exercise room with a kitchen, technical room and separate toilet is being built for the active 30 children in traditional costumes.

The theater group of adult members also finds a rehearsal room there.

There is a total of 150 square meters of space.

The opening is planned for the end of 2023.

Anyone who would also like to donate can do so under IBAN DE81711525700012434510 and keyword “Trachtenhütte”.

Mayor Robert Kühn experienced a big surprise when he was asked to hang up the decorated tree, while master carpenters Hans Zehetmeier, Hans Buchberger and Benedikt Höß were already standing on the roof ridge for the traditional topping-out speech.

According to old tradition, two full buckets of water poured down on the completely surprised community leader.

Kühn behaved bravely, was a bit dazed for a moment, held his breath, shook himself vigorously and said with a laugh: "It'll dry again." With wise foresight, club boss Erlacher had a dry shirt ready so that the mayor and the others were dry 40 invited guests could then enjoy the appropriate snack.

150,000 euros in material costs planned

"I'm happy about the courage of the costumers to secure the future of the association with this personal contribution," said the mayor.

This was also underlined with a grant from the municipality in the amount of 40,000 euros.

The Hubertus Altgelt Foundation donated the same amount.

An appeal by the Bad Wiessee am Tegernsee Homeland and Folk Costume Association raised over 50,000 euros in donations from the public.

The originally estimated 150,000 euros in material costs should definitely be met, even if the construction costs for windows and doors have increased significantly in the meantime.

There is still a gap of a good 20,000 euros, which is to be closed with donations.
