Protests for the climate: Activists stand firm - police must crack down
On Saturday afternoon (June 25), about ten young climate activists blocked the city highway in Paris.
Some even taped their hands to the street, French news
agency AFP
reports.
After the police forces repeatedly asked the protesters to leave the street, but they refused, the officers quickly put an end to the whole thing, according to a Twitter video by a French journalist from
CLPress
.
French journalist Clément Lanot of
CLPress posted
the video of activists in orange vests going on climate strike on the Paris motorway on Saturday on Twitter.
You can see how a French policeman pulls the taped hands of an activist from the street and he screams.
As the French daily
Le Figaro
reports, the activists were then examined by rescue workers and no injuries were found.
The protesters belong to the climate protest group "Dernière Rénovation" (in German: next renovation).
According to their website, the aim of Saturday's protest was "to win a political victory over energy-related refurbishment".
The activists want to force the government to reduce France's emissions.
