It is well known that special events take place in the Plantsch from time to time.

Also last Saturday, an action by clubs that have something to do with the wet element hit the bull's eye.

Schongau

– The corona pandemic of the past two years has also gnawed at many clubs.

Members have broken away, especially the offspring stayed away.

In order to recruit new members or bring back old ones, the board of directors of Schongau water sports clubs have joined forces to present themselves to the public together.

Last Saturday, the Plansch in Schongau became an adventure universe for water rats for a whopping five hours.

In the large outdoor pool, where the swimmers usually swim their lengths, six kayakers, for example, competed.

Not only that. They showed turns and rolls, then even slid down the big wave slide.

Also there was Felix (11), who amazed with his agility.

As if the kayak has grown into his body.

Well, he certainly inherited some "kayak genes" from his father Benjamin Ramsayer, who went one better: He accompanies the girls and boys with their kayaks up the three-meter tower inside.

From there they show jumps into the water basin.

Pure adrenaline: 11-year-old Felix Ramsayer from the Schongau Canoe Club bravely jumping off the three-metre tower in his canoe.

Karl Zwerger stood at the edge of the pool: "We want to bring our sport to the public," said the board.

Above all, the work with young people is in the foreground.

“Come, try, then buy” is the motto for procuring your own equipment.

If you want to try it, you're welcome: every Thursday from 6 p.m. on the club premises in Rösenau.

New in the program for those who want it a little quieter: hiking boat trips.

The commands and instructions from Ramona Breunig could be heard in the paddling area: She is a double trainer.

Once responsible for the swimmers of the TSV department, then also for the youngsters in the triathlon team.

She also complained that one of six different groups in the swimming club broke away because of Corona.

"We take care of the beginners as well as the professionals," she explained at the edge of the pool, without taking her eyes off her protégés.

Underwater like the pros

For Breunig, this day was crowned with success: she was able to take away eight badges.

From the seahorse to gold to the skull badge.

While Breunig pitched their tents indoors, husband Rick was active in the outdoor pool for the triathletes.

He trained the arm stroke with Valentin, supported by a buoyancy aid between the knees.

One water floor below you met Lea (9) and Aaron (10) in the outdoor pool trying to dive.

After just a short briefing, they behaved like real professionals.

gave clear signs with their hands.

Sign language for water lovers, so to speak.

This is also part of the fun in the water: Bastian (14) from the water rescue service resuscitates on the practice dummy, instructor Markus Löffler gives explanations.

The equipment manager from the Aquarius diving club, Klaus Hirsch, was standing at the edge of the pool.

He also complained that all but two members of the children's and youth groups (8-14 years) left.

A consolation at the edge of the pool: "The adults stayed with us." The training times are every Wednesday from 8 to 9 p.m. in the Plansch.

Christian Fotinger prepared himself for a very special demonstration: The trainer in the diving club is also a free diver or apnea diver.

He wanted to remain motionless underwater in front of the spectators for four minutes.

This can be achieved through special training and improvement of breathing technique.

Sebastian Schneider accompanied as a referee with the stopwatch.

Respect for the lifeguard

Fortinger dove on command, and that's when the viewers realized how long four minutes is.

Fortinger manages this and another 30 seconds.

Great recognition.

You just have to give this recognition to the members of the water rescue service.

They are the ones who courageously do everything in an emergency to save swimmers in need.

They also demonstrated this that day in the pool and on the edge of the pool.

While Bastian (14) pulled a swimmer ashore and saved it a few seconds ago, shortly afterwards he showed the resuscitation on a doll.

Trainer Markus Löffler gave the explanations to the spectators at the same time.

It could be seen with Amelie (7) and Anna (6) that training cannot start early enough.

They practiced towing in the water with a pool noodle.

Now we can only hope that many children and young people in particular have "licked their blood" in the water so that the clubs don't run out of youngsters.
