Bavaria's Greens met in Regensburg at the weekend to discuss initial content for the program for the state elections in autumn 2023.

Erding's Green Party chairman Konrad Thees (17) was there.

Mr. Thees, how was the workshop?

It was fun.

I've only been in the party for a year, so it was a completely new experience to work actively on the election program as a grassroots member.

Which topics are particularly important to you?

These are the climate and energy transitions, which is why I joined the Greens.

We have to tackle both.

But better social cohesion is also important to me.

How likely do you think there will be traffic lights in Bavaria from 2023?

So far, this option has not been discussed much in Bavaria.

A traffic light would be a possibility, especially when it comes to socio-political issues.

But of course the CSU is a big factor in Bavaria, which may prevent other majorities.

The FDP and SPD are not doing so well in Bavaria at the moment.

Should the Greens coalition with the CSU?

Of course, I wish that the Greens would be the strongest force.

But to be honest, that's unlikely.

I find it irresponsible to tell voters from the outset not to enter into a coalition with this or that party – except with the AfD.

People choose us so that we can implement their concerns.

That's only possible in government.

Black and green is an option.

What do you think of the FDP's planned referendum to downsize the state parliament?

I don't know the details.

The fact is, however, that the constituencies are no longer uniform, some have too many, others too few eligible voters.

And the state parliament must not continue to grow.

The CSU has so far ignored this.

How do you feel about the voting age?

I am fully in favor of lowering the right to vote and stand for elections from 18 to 16 because the decisions made today affect young people.

I'm also of the opinion that you don't necessarily have to be at least 40 to become prime minister.

And I won't say that because our Katharina Schulze is not yet 40.
