After hosting two G7 summits in a row, Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) no longer wants to have any international summits in the country for the time being.

"For the foreseeable future we have done our duty with such large peaks, now others can show whether they can do it just as well," said Söder.

As in 2015, the G7 summit took place in Schloss Elmau, Bavaria.

Basically, Söder was satisfied.

The security concept was convincing.

"Bavaria can summit," said Söder.

The Free State has proven that in the past few days.

He added: "Now it's good again."

After a discussion, especially in social networks, about Bavarian folklore on the sidelines of the summit talks, Söder said that all state guests had enjoyed “this special culture” very much.

Traditional costumes or brass band musicians were "excellent representatives of our country".

So that the guests don't forget this special experience, they were given a special gift to take with them: the leaders of the leading industrialized countries and the so-called outreach guests were given a classic Bavarian backpack for hiking.

Sausage and cheese as a reminder

That was not all.

The piece of luggage was filled with sausage, cheese, drinks, a gingerbread heart and tickets for the Schafkopf game: "Bavaria should be remembered well," Söder wrote on Instagram.

He advised other federal states to set their own priorities as hosts at future summits.

Depending on the region, they could have a shanty choir or a miners' choir perform at the reception.

After Hamburg in 2017, a G-20 meeting in Germany is not due until 2037.
