The director of Hama Agriculture, Engineer Ashraf Bakir, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the harvested wheat fields in Salamiyah area exceeded 2,600 hectares out of the total cultivated area of 5200 hectares.
Despite the suffering and difficulties faced by farmers in harvesting the crop due to living conditions, lack of fuel and weather conditions, the production seasons are medium, according to the head of the agricultural association in the village of Taldra in the western Salamiyah countryside, Muhammad Askoor, adding that the process of harvesting irrigated wheat continues in the village of Taldra, which is famous for growing wheat in the region on a large scale. Askoor indicated that the area of land planted with irrigated and rainfed wheat this year in the village and its surroundings amounted to about 2,500 dunams, pointing out that the agricultural association continues its tasks around the clock and its cadres are with the farmer from the early morning hours until the end of the harvest and the delivery of the crop to the grain receiving centers.
The head of the Department of Peaceful Agriculture, Engineer Osama Sweidan, explained that wheat production in the peaceful countryside is average due to the climatic conditions and the control of drought throughout the season, indicating that the farmers in the peaceful countryside began reaping the wheat crop several weeks ago, and the harvest process was concentrated in the western countryside of Salamiyah.
