The National Center for Education Statistics in the United States revealed that the number of shootings increased as a result of the massive proliferation of weapons, especially in the hands of school students, to an unprecedented level in recent years.
NBC News quoted the National Center for Education Statistics as saying in a report that 93 incidents involving injuries occurred in public and private schools across the United States in 2020 and 2021, the highest number in twenty years, which represents a significant increase of 23 incidents over those that occurred. Recorded in the years 2000 and 2001.
The report also revealed that 93 incidents were recorded during those years, including 43 deaths and 50 injuries, noting that “although the rate of non-fatal violent abuse at school for children aged 12-18 years was lower in 2019 than in 2009, there was More school shootings with casualties last year than in any other year since data collection began in the early 2000s.”
The report contained a broad definition of shooting-related incidents, including in which a gun was brandished or shootings at school property, as well as shooting incidents that occurred on school property during remote teaching amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The results came in the wake of the Robb Elementary School shooting in Ovaldi, Texas, in which 19 students and two teachers were killed.
Shooting incidents are common in the United States with the spread of a culture of violence in American society and the right to own a single gun.
