Starnberg - After the successful, multi-faceted start of this year's "Starnberg Cultural Summer", the beautiful inner courtyard of Starnberg Castle with its excellent acoustics will open to the public on June 30th at 7.30 p.m. for a musical treat.
The former seat of the Wittelsbach family, once the place of work of the important court musician and composer Orlando di Lasso, who was active throughout Europe, rises dignified and outstanding on the Schlossberg, high above Lake Starnberg.
Through many epochs, music was played and danced there as well as in the adjoining castle garden.
Even a dance hall had been erected on the site of the later built rococo church of St. Joseph.
Accordingly, the program of the evening glides virtuosically and lightly through the different times with their different musical orientations and moods. Italian, English and French dances of the Renaissance are very unusually combined with jazz sounds on this evening.
Among others, Bart Howard's "Fly Me to The Moon", Billy Strayhorn's "Take the A-Train" or George Gershwin's "Summertime" will be heard.
The summer program moves in this broad spectrum and allows the audience to immerse themselves in the wonderful, ultimately timeless atmosphere of the Starnberg Castle courtyard. Summer sound magic with the congenial musician couple living in Pöcking, the violinist Esther Schöpf and Norbert Groh on the piano and accordion and the percussionist Leander Kaiser.
If the weather is bad, the event will take place in the Orlando Hall of the Starnberg Music School.
