Rüdiger Koppe, head of the building department at VG Pastetten, will soon be retiring.

During his 17 years in office, he has overseen numerous major projects.

Pastetten

– Only a few weeks will pass before Pastetten's building authority manager, Rüdiger Koppe, will retire.

The fact that after 17 years at the head of the building authority he has decided in favor of a semi-retirement model is making Mayor Peter Deischl a little worried.

The successor is not quite dry cloths yet.

However, a new employee has already signed the contract and is to be specially prepared for the office management after he has taken up his duties.

Another colleague should be assigned to help him, but the job advertisement is still running.

(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Erding newsletter.)

Koppe finds it a wise decision to increase the team.

"It would also be a relief for my long-time colleague Melanie Pfanzelt," he says.

You always supported him.

"With her expertise, her experience and her diligence, she was an indispensable employee for me."

His successor must be prepared to follow in big footsteps.

For Koppe, planning and building are more of a vocation than a job.

Accordingly, he meticulously stuck behind every single project.

Born in Erding in 1960, at the age of 16 he joined his father Ernst Koppe's architectural office on the Rätschenbach in Erding.

Since then, he has worked in the construction sector, only interrupted by 15 months of service in the German Armed Forces.

As a trained technical draftsman and construction technician, the 62-year-old often had to gain further qualifications, including in the field of statics, in order to be able to provide structural engineering verifications.

After the father's office followed for five years a job in a construction company.

"I was able to work in an architect's office, in a construction company and in administration, which gave me a wide range of professional experience," he says in retrospect.

In 2005, the then 45-year-old applied for the vacancy of the Pastetten administrative community and jumped in at the deep end: "As a career changer, I had no idea about administrative work." To this day, he is grateful to Gottfried Prostmeier, who was already the manager at the time and patiently trained him have.

The local head at the time, Cornelia Vogelfanger, also encouraged him in his position.

Working with his colleagues at City Hall was important to him.

"The cooperation was respectful and appreciative, that was very pleasant," says Koppe.

There is also “a pleasant working exchange” with Vogelfanger’s successor Deischl and Buch’s mayor, Ferdinand Geisberger.

The list of projects that he has been responsible for or supported over the past 17 years is long.

Among the most important in Pastetten are the gymnasium built in 2008, the Pusteblume children's home, a wood chip heating system for the municipal buildings and recently the conversion of the old gymnasium into a canteen.

In Buch it is the construction yard, the forest kindergarten, the conversion of an apartment into a doctor's office and the new community residential building with 13 apartments and an underground car park.

In addition, there are a dozen development plans in both municipalities.

“It was always important to me to keep an eye on the costs in construction projects.

After all, it is public money that should be used responsibly and carefully.” The last major project on his desk is the fire station in Buch.

"My successor will then have to deal with its counterpart in pasties," says Koppe.

Now the married father of a daughter is looking forward to the time after the last working day.

He shouldn't be bored.

"My classic car can leave the garage more often again," says the Altenerdinger happily.

But it's not just the 1972 "Stroke 8" Mercedes that lures him, he also has time for another passion: "Maybe I'll buy a motorcycle again." the history of Germany and Erding.
