Most Americans disapprove of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v.
Wade, according to a CBS News/YouGov poll conducted on the Friday and Saturday immediately after the ruling.

A 59% majority of American adults disapprove of the decision, while 41% approve.
About half (52%) see the decision as a step backwards for the United States, 31% say it is a step forward, and 17% say neither.
Among women, two-thirds (67%) disapprove of the ruling, while only 33% approve.
A 56% majority of women say the decision will make life worse for most American women.

Some 58% of Americans say they would favor a federal law legalizing abortion nationwide, while 42% would oppose it.
And 64% say they would like abortion in their states to be legal in most or all cases.
Most Americans now say they believe the Supreme Court is at least somewhat likely to end or limit same-sex marriage (57%) and access to birth control (55%).
Only 33% say they have a lot or quite a bit of trust in the Supreme Court, 23% say they have little trust, and 44% say they have very little trust in the Supreme Court.

The CBS News/YouGov poll polled a nationally representative sample of 1,591 adults on June 24 and 25 after the Supreme Court decision was released.
While this is a relatively short period for a survey, the results provide an initial look at public reaction.
The sampling error margin for the survey is ±3.0 points.
