The future Economics and Climate Protection Minister Mona Neubaur (Greens) sees the first black-green coalition in North Rhine-Westphalia facing major challenges.
The climate crisis must be overcome, social cohesion strengthened and democracy defended, said Neubaur on Tuesday on WDR television.
"And under conditions that are honestly not the sunniest, because the consequences of the Ukraine war will be particularly challenging for us again."
Düsseldorf - With the re-election of Hendrik Wüst (CDU) as prime minister, an "important stage has now been well completed," said Neubaur.
Black-Green in NRW is "ready to get started right now".
Neubaur had great praise for Wüst.
"His great strength is that he can keep calm, that he keeps his nerve and that he really builds bridges." Wüst stay calm, listen seriously and have respect for the other person.
She herself has “great respect” for her new job as minister, but is also looking forward to it.
Wüst also named the Ukraine war and dealing with the consequences for the people in North Rhine-Westphalia as a major challenge on WDR television.
The war has consequences for food and energy prices and inflation.
The corona pandemic is also “not gone”.
Trust in his future Green coalition partner had grown during the weeks of coalition talks.
The government alliance should never be an end in itself.
The new Wüst cabinet is to be sworn in on Wednesday.
Wüst remained silent about filling the eight CDU ministerial posts.
