Moosburg is starting out in “city cycling” and wants to achieve a particularly magical number this year

In Moosburg, the starting shot for the city cycling campaign has been given.
Now the organizers are hoping for new records – and a magic number.

- The 1250 year celebration of the city of Moosburg has long since picked up speed, and after the dreamy evening with the 1250 meter banquet the bar is really high.
The city cycling, which lasted until July 16, began on Sunday and the organizers are now hoping for 1250 participants.
There is still enormous potential for Moosburg when it comes to cycling
"If there are 1251 participants, that's not too bad either," joked Mayor Michael Stanglmaier, who is committed to climate policy and wants to get more people to cycle with this campaign.
The city has been taking part in the campaign for twelve years, in which citizens can report the kilometers they have cycled within three weeks and then win prizes as individual riders or in teams.
City cycling is not a sporting competition, but is intended to set an example for climate protection.
It calculates how many tons of CO2 the cyclists have saved compared to using a car.
At the official start at Kastulusplatz, Stanglmaier emphasized that there was still enormous potential in Moosburg.
After all, 20 percent of the distances covered are less than 500 meters by car, and 30 percent for distances of up to two kilometers.
He emphasizes that the car is at a disadvantage over short distances compared to the bicycle, which does not have to look for a parking space.

A cyclist was killed by a tree as a result of the violent thunderstorm, and according to Dollinger, a seriously injured young person is now on the mend.
Even before the start of the city cycle, Moosburg companies have collected 1600 euros in donations, which are then supplemented with donations for kilometers driven.
The municipal climate protection manager, Melanie Falkenstein, explained that the funds should benefit refugees from Ukraine.
The money will go to the Moosburger Tafel, Navis and the Asylum Helpers' Circle.

Bike tours are also offered within the campaign period until July 16: on July 5 (6 p.m., Münster, 20 km after work tour), July 9 (10 a.m., war memorial on the map, 60 km through the Holledau), July 10 ( 9 a.m., DAV clubhouse, to the beer garden in Freising-Weihenstephan) and July 16 (1 p.m., one-world shop on the plan, final tour to Freising and back).
And then everyone hopes that the records from 2020 (633 participants, 134,230 kilometers) can be beaten.
The 1250 participants for the current year would mean a doubling of the participants - and a strong climate message for a better world.
