Opinion | Authority violates human rights, world ignores Israel today

The Palestinian Authority's use of international forums is cynical and manipulative. In the last decade, the Palestinian Authority has made great efforts to "label" itself in the world as a "knight of human rights" and as a victim of human rights violations against Israel.

Among other things, after being recognized as a "member state" by the UN General Assembly, the Palestinian Authority has joined a number of international human rights treaties, including the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, or the International Convention against Torture and Cruel, Inhuman Punishment The purpose of joining these conventions was twofold: first, to establish the status of the PA as a state, and secondly - and most importantly - to use these as a tool against the State of Israel.

But the Palestinian Authority's use of international forums is cynical and manipulative.

There is one thing in it - a real intention to obey and respect human rights.

Anyone looking at the human rights situation in the Palestinian Authority reveals a horrific picture, with torture in Palestinian prisons being just one example of serious violations of basic rights.

The situation of women, children, LGBTs and minorities in the PA is extremely serious: a husband is allowed to rape his wife under Palestinian law, women are forced to marry the rapist who became pregnant, LGBTs are persecuted and their lives become lifeless, incidents of violence and murder in the name of "family honor" "All of these and many others are a common interest in the Palestinian Authority, and receive a forgiving response from the authorities.

What is particularly troubling is the silence of the countries of the world, the international press and international human rights organizations, which continue to not only turn a blind eye to the violations - well known to them - but mainly to obsessively blame Hashem for the "Israeli occupation."

Thus, the issue of torture in Palestinian prisons is nothing new: back in 2015, the Shurat HaDin organization filed a detailed complaint about this with the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Despite this, the issue evaporated when the plaintiff announced on what issues she would open an investigation.

Torture in the Palestinian Authority was not part of it.

At the top of the list were the "crimes against humanity" committed by Israel.

As far as the countries of the world are concerned, a world as usual, the authority violates human rights very seriously, and yet will continue to receive hundreds of millions of dollars in funding a year, for opening embassies and missions as if it were a state, and for salutes at an official visit.

For them, hundreds of murdered and tortured to death in the Palestinian Authority are not equal to a single Hashukaji.

This bond of silence reveals the hypocrisy of the countries of the world, the International Criminal Court, the international media and human rights organizations, who sin against their position and are willing to sacrifice their principles in favor of blackening the face of Israel, provided not one of Abu Mazen's hair falls.

For them, those vulnerable and weak populations in Palestinian society are just a "light blow on the wing."
