The President of the Republic of Paraguay Mario Abdo Benitez received today the credentials of Dr. Sami Salameh as a non-resident ambassador of Syria to Paraguay.

The Syrian ambassador conveyed the greetings of President Bashar al-Assad to the President of Paraguay, who wished Syria continued peace, stability and prosperity.

The ceremony of receiving the credentials of Ambassador Salama was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay Julio Cesar Areola.

Dr. Salama, Syria’s ambassador to Argentina and the non-resident ambassador to Paraguay, had discussed with Thomas Bitar, head of the parliament of the Mercosur countries, which includes Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay, yesterday, the mechanisms that countries must follow to negotiate the signing of the final free trade agreement with other countries that are not members of the bloc, in addition to To develop parliamentary relations between the Mercosur Parliament and the People's Assembly in Syria.

The Speaker of the MERCOSUR Parliament welcomed the strengthening of the Syrian parliamentary relations with the MERCOSUR countries, wishing Syria to strengthen security and stability as soon as possible.

The meeting was attended by Mikhail Miskin, the honorary consul of Syria in Sidadel Este, Moataz Al-Khatib, the Syrian honorary consul in Asuncion, and Danny Khoury from the Syrian community in Paraguay.
