In the Maierhof of the Benediktbeuern monastery, numerous well-known artists are on stage in July - with opera singer Jonas Kaufmann even a world star.

Tickets are still available for almost all concerts.

Accommodation options are also in high demand.

Benediktbeuern – Sabine Rauscher, head of guest information in Benediktbeuern, describes the forthcoming open-air concerts in the Maierhof as a “figurehead for the monastery village”.

The guest information also shows that the concert-goers come from far away, with Jonas Kaufmann receiving inquiries from as far away as Baden-Württemberg.

Many want to stay overnight in Benediktbeuern.

"On some days there are only a few beds available," says Rauscher.

It is particularly nice that the range of artists is so large this year.

"This appeals to a very different audience," says Rauscher happily.

The national advertising by the organizers is very good for Benediktbeuern.

8 months negotiated for Kaufmann appearance

Undoubtedly the greatest among them is opera singer Jonas Kaufmann.

"We negotiated for eight months to get an appointment for him," reports organizer Birgit Gibson.

Because Kaufmann absolutely wanted to perform in the ambience of the Maierhof, he even canceled a concert in Verona.

"Because he lived at Ammersee for a long time, the region is a piece of home for him," says Gibson.

In Benediktbeuern, the world star will be on stage with the Augsburg Philharmonic.

The audience can look forward to hearing the most beautiful melodies from operas, operettas and films.

Unfortunately, advance sales are still disappointing, says the organizer.

Is it because of the high prices?

"The prices are fair," says Gibson.

After all, the orchestra consists of 68 people and it is a high financial effort to carry out the concert.

"In Munich, people are queuing for Jonas Kaufmann," says Gibson.

You can currently feel that tickets are being bought at increasingly short notice.

The concert will definitely take place, even if it is not sold out or if it rains.

"Dreiviertelblut" is currently selling better than Helge Schneider

The other organizers also have a similar experience in terms of advance ticket sales – although there are certainly surprises.

"The band 'Dreiviertelblut' is currently selling better than Helge Schneider," says organizer Bernhard Schloemer.

The cabaret artist is coming to Benediktbeuern for the first time, but not to a monastery for the first time: "He has already played in Andechs." Schloemer also feels that ticket sales are different this year than usual.

"It's the general news situation with Corona, the Ukraine crisis and inflation."

Martina Schwarzmann will play both on July 30th and 31st.

Lots of tickets left for LaBrassBanda

Eva Kretz, who oversees the performances of Martina Schwarzmann and LaBrassBanda for the Augsburg Concert Office, reports something similar.

Schwarzmann comes to Benediktbeuern twice, Saturday is almost sold out.

"The artist actually sells well everywhere," says Kretz.

Advance sales at LaBrassBanda are still reluctant.

Almost 4000 people can attend this concert in the Maierhof.

"Many are still waiting for the weather or are generally saving because of the high petrol prices and the general situation," Kretz is also told.

Apart from "Dreiviertelblut" with singer Sebastian Horn from Lenggries, the participants in the Carmina Burana performance are the only local heroes on the Maierhof stage.

The overall direction is again in the hands of Andrea Feßmann, who has recently been rehearsing with a children's choir that was specially created for this purpose.

In addition, many singers from the Tölz district are involved in Feßmann's "Klang Kunst Chor".
