The meticulous folding technique can become a precious work.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Central and Western District Office invited origami artist Chen Pak-hei this year to hold the "Hong Kong Shengping Prosperity Sharing Origami Art Exhibition" on the L1 floor of Pacific Place, Admiralty, to showcase his meticulously created origami works.

The handmade origami works are exquisite and meticulous, attracting the public to stop to watch and take pictures.

Inspired by Japanese masters as a child

At the age of 29, Chen Baixi first saw the paper origami flying dragon, a Japanese origami master, at the age of 12, which opened his eyes and started his origami life.

For 17 years, he has continued to study and communicate with other places, turning his interest into art. Now his skills are well-known both at home and abroad.

Chen Baixi pointed out that the inspiration for the works of this art exhibition is all related to Hong Kong, including cattle, sea turtles, fiddler crabs and Xiaowan crocodile shells.

He described origami works like Hong Kong, where a piece of paper has been folded multiple times to become a work of art, just as Hong Kong has gone through many challenges to achieve today's achievements 25 years ago.

Taking one of his works, "Phoenix" as an example, he pointed out that the spirit beast has the meaning of rebirth, just like Hong Kong has experienced various challenges and presented a new scene after rebirth.

works come to life

He pointed out that a piece of paper is plain, and even if it is folded in multiple layers, the shadow effect will not be ideal, but using the coloring method to color the edges of the work can increase the sense of three-dimensionality and layering, and the whole work does not look like paper. It looks like a sculpture, but when the audience approaches, it turns out that it is an origami work.

The art of origami is ever-changing. In addition to folding skills, you must also know how to calculate.

Chen Baixi revealed that it takes two to three weeks to collect information and research before origami, and then draw lines of different proportions on the paper, and calculate the folded part before starting. The actual origami time is only a few hours.

He pointed out that the most difficult part of origami is to fold a piece of paper, because the paper will become thicker when it overlaps, and the more layers it is folded, the more difficult it will become. Seven points for preparation, three points for discount.

There are also different installations in the exhibition hall for citizens to "check in", and citizens can visit the venue from now until July 10.
