In the district of Freising, immunization practically only occurs through an infection.
The vaccination campaign has come to a standstill.
District
– The hopes for a corona-free summer have been dashed.
The seven-day incidence is not yet alarmingly high (current value: 435).
But how meaningful is this number?
Experts assume that many infected people no longer do a PCR test at all.
And what about vaccinations?
Is the district prepared for the feared autumn wave?
In fact, the vaccination campaign has come to a standstill
Demand is almost zero
Since the company Ecolog took over the operation of the vaccination center at the beginning of May, the demand for the prick has been almost zero.
The number of daily vaccinations is only about 20, as the district office reports on request.
So only very few citizens miss out on a fourth vaccination, although the booster vaccination for most of them was probably six months ago and a new booster is recommended, especially for older fellow citizens.
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
Figures about a fourth vaccination are not available.
The authority cannot say to what extent the residents of the district have received a new refresher.
“Our coordination office is in constant contact with all facilities and coordinates the needs.
Our mobile vaccination teams are on duty and vaccinate as needed.
A statement about the vaccination rate cannot be made," said authority spokeswoman Eva Zimmerhof.
The vaccination protection of the population is therefore dwindling - an unknown number of citizens are being immunized by infection.
A damper on the willingness to test
And the testing?
First of all: The test centers listed on the district's homepage are all in operation, the district office confirms.
Eva Zimmerhof: "According to the operator, demand is currently around 100 PoC antigen tests or 70 PCR tests per week during the week and can therefore be described as stable at an average level."
Before weekends or public holidays, there is regularly a significant increase to around 150 PoC antigen tests and 100 PCR tests per day.
Conclusion here: The incidence has a certain significance in view of the test activities, but the number of unreported infections is likely to be significantly higher.
Experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI - mainly because not all infected people have a PCR test done.
Only positive PCR tests count in the statistics.
In addition, late registrations or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values.
From July you have to shell out three euros for the previously free quick tests - a dampener for the willingness to test.
The official infection numbers should then have even less significance.
