Temperatures in the Japanese capital, Tokyo, broke their highest levels for the month of June in 150 years, as authorities warned of pressures in the electricity supply.
Reuters reported that the maximum temperature in Tokyo recorded today 36 degrees Celsius, after three consecutive days during which it exceeded 35 degrees, and with it, hospital admissions due to heatstroke rose in the worst heat wave since 1875.
For the second day in a row, the Japanese authorities called on residents of the Tokyo area to rationalize electricity consumption to avoid power outages.
Yesterday, the Japanese government announced that it had taken the necessary measures in preparation for the possibility of facing an electricity crisis with the rise in temperatures throughout the country and the end of the rainy season.
