Tragic racing bike accident: Long-time Green politician dies at a bike marathon in Bavaria

A serious accident occurred at the Rosenheim Cycle Marathon.
The Green politician Katja Husen fell and died in the hospital.
Rosenheim – A tragic accident overshadowed the 29th Rosenheim Cycle Marathon at Sudelfeld in Bavaria on Sunday, June 26th.
Longtime Green politician Katja Husen fell on federal highway 307 and was hospitalized with severe head injuries.
Two days later, on Tuesday June 28, she succumbed to her injuries.

The biologist and politician Husen also worked as managing director of the Center for Molecular Neurobiology (ZMNH) at the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE).
According to party information, Husen was active in the Greens for more than 20 years in a wide variety of positions, including as a member of the Hamburg Parliament.
According to the police, Husen crashed her racing bike after a curve at the 29th Rosenheim Cycle Marathon on the B307 in the direction of Bayrischzell.
Despite wearing a bicycle helmet, she suffered serious head injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital by helicopter, according to the Miesbach Police Inspectorate.

Katja Husen dies after a serious racing bike accident in Bavaria
Husen succumbed to her injuries on Tuesday.
The Green politician was 46 years old.
She was active in various roles in her party, including as a member of the federal executive board, member of the state executive board, designated head of the district office or candidate for the Bundestag.
