In the north-east and in the south of Ukraine, the Russian army is not making any headway.

Vladimir Putin is apparently taking action within his military.

And not for the first time.

Munich/Moscow - According to the Ukrainian commander-in-chief Valeryj Saluschnyj, the front in the war with Russia is said to be more than 2,400 kilometers long.

Fighting and shooting is therefore - at least mainly - only in individual sections.

Russia-Ukraine War: Invading army making no progress northeast of Kharkiv

According to data from the think tank "Institute for the Study of War and Critical Threats Project", the Russian army recently once again dared to advance east of the metropolis of Kharkiv with around 1.4 million inhabitants.

According to their own statements, the Ukrainian armed forces had pushed back the Russian invading troops in some cases to the border.

However, heavy artillery battles are reported.

While Vladimir Putin's troops are making further territorial gains in parts of the Donbass and, according to various military experts, Kyiv has started a tactical retreat there, the Russian army is not making any progress in the north-east due to bitter resistance.

Apparently this has consequences.

As the independent research network

reports, Putin fired the commander of the western military district, Alexander Zhuravlev.

The 57-year-old was relieved of his duties and allegedly replaced by Andrei Sychevoi, the ex-commander of the Russian 8th Army.

This information cannot be checked independently, and there has not been any confirmation from the Kremlin so far.

According to research by the US broadcaster CNN, Zhuravlyov is responsible for at least one cluster bomb attack on Ukrainian civilians near Kharkiv.

Also near Sumy, about 180 kilometers north-west of Kharkov directly on the border with Russia, Zhuravlev's troops had suffered considerable losses since the invasion of the neighboring country to the west.

As a result, they had to retreat again and were unable to break through in the direction of Kyiv.

Just recently, on June 25, the British Ministry of Defense wrote in a tweet on Twitter that the Russian high command around Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu had removed several generals who had been deployed in the Ukraine war from important positions.

Among them were the two generals Andrei Serdyukov, commander of the airborne troops, and Alexander Dvornikov, commander of the southern force group.

The Southern Forces Group has been trying in vain for weeks to advance via occupied Cherson and Mykolaiv along the Black Sea coast in the direction of the city of Odessa.
