USA: At least 40 immigrants were found dead inside a truck in Texas, searching for the driver

The bodies were found in an abandoned truck on the outskirts of San Antonio, Texas, near railroad tracks and junkyards.

Medical teams were called to the scene and treated at least 12 people who were injured to varying degrees.

Later, they were evacuated to hospitals across the city.

At least 40 immigrants were found dead last night (Tuesday) in a truck in the city of San Antonio in the state of Texas in the United States.

Rescuers were called to the scene and provided medical care to 12 other people who were at the scene injured to varying degrees - but alive.

They were later evacuated to hospitals across the city for further treatment.

Local police were called to the scene and an investigation was opened.

The bodies were found in an abandoned truck on the outskirts of the city, near train tracks and scrap yards, and are suspected to be immigrants who entered the United States illegally.

Local police are scanning the scene and conducting a search for the truck driver who abandoned her.

At this time it is not clear how the people died but this is one of the most serious immigrant accidents that have occurred in recent years.

The suspicion arises and the possibility is examined that the cause of the accident is the extreme weather and heat prevailing throughout Texas in general and in San Antonio in particular.

"The Homeland Security Investigation Team has arrived at the scene but cannot provide further details about the case," a spokeswoman for Customs and Border Protection said, according to a report in the New York Times.

Gov. Abbott blamed U.S. President Joe Biden for the horrific incident.

"This death is about Biden," he said.

"This is a result of his open border policy. These are the deadly consequences of his refusal to enforce the law."
