Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin discussed with UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths ways to provide comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Syria without politicizing.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published today on its website that during the phone call that took place yesterday, current issues on the agenda of the UN Security Council were considered, including the provision of comprehensive humanitarian assistance to Syria without politicization, discrimination and preconditions in strict adherence to the rules of international humanitarian law. .
The statement indicated that the two sides reviewed the current situation in Ukraine and in the People's Republics of Donetsk and Luhansk, with a focus on solving urgent humanitarian problems, pointing out that they paid special attention to issues of ensuring global food security.
The Russian side reiterated its readiness, in principle, to fully fulfill its export obligations, particularly regarding the supply of grain and fertilizers, which are prohibited today by illegal unilateral sanctions, as well as to help ensure the safe export of Ukrainian wheat.
It is noteworthy that Russia has not closed Ukraine's ports on the Black Sea, which are currently impossible to use due to the naval mines planted by the regime forces in Kyiv.
