Bad news for Volkswagen customers: The electric cars are sold out for 2022.

Even with the group sisters, nothing works anymore.

Wolfsburg – The fact that electromobility is the future should be clear at the latest since the EU Parliament passed a ban on internal combustion engines.

There is resistance from some countries - including Germany - but the triumph of electric cars is unlikely to be stopped.

The demand is so extreme that many customers do not know if they will get their Stromer this year.

While some manufacturers have advertised corresponding guarantees, Volkswagen has now declared that all production for 2022 has been sold out.

“Basically, we're sold out of EVs in Europe and the United States.

And things are really getting started in China," VW boss Herbert Diess told the Financial Times.

The order books are correspondingly well filled: in Western Europe alone, the Wolfsburg-based company wants to build and deliver around 300,000 Stromer.

The e-Up could only be ordered again for a short time.

But not only at Volkswagen are customers looking into the tube this year, according to the “Financial Times” nothing is going on with the other group brands either.

That means: Audi, Porsche, Škoda and Cupra will also no longer have electric cars before the turn of the year.

This is particularly annoying with a view to the future of the environmental bonus.

Because if this is extended, the state subsidy will be significantly lower and buyers of plug-in hybrids will look into the tube.

Federal Finance Minister Christian Lindner (43, FDP) would even like to abolish the bonus altogether and has received severe criticism for it.

Volkswagen can't keep up: the industry is struggling with restrictions

Accordingly, the strong demand and late availability should lead to a price increase.

However, like many manufacturers, Volkswagen's hands are tied in a way.

In addition to the high number of customers, the industry has to struggle with restrictions again and again.

The war in Ukraine, for example, exacerbated the shortage of parts and forced Volkswagen to stop production at some plants at times.

In addition, the local corona lockdowns in China repeatedly had an impact on production.
