On the stage of the circular theater, Fawaz Al-Sager Theater at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Damascus, the students of the fourth year at the institute presented their graduation project, represented by a theatrical show entitled “The House” that included an improvised text that lasted one hundred and eighty-seven minutes.
The show, which continues until the 30th of this month, was signed by the able artist Fayez Qazak, and included a simple popular proposal as close as possible to the Saadallah Wannous Theater, as it gave the actors greater freedom for individual monologues with which they addressed their audience.
The story of the show revolves around a home for the elderly bringing together a number of elderly women who differed in their circumstances, concerns and even their dialects, as some investors decide to take advantage of the place and turn it into a commercial market and delude the elderly residents that they will enjoy absolute luxury to reach the expected end, which is demolition.
With the escalation of events, each actor is in front of his mirror revealing his secret and the complex of his personality that brought him here to release the special situation to the public and reveal the accumulation and social conditions.
In a statement to SANA, the Dean of the Institute, Dr. Tamer Al-Arbeed, pointed out the specificity of the offer, as it presents the graduates to the labor market directly and touches reality more, indicating that the offer included 21 students, which is a large number compared to the offers of previous years, in addition to being improvised, meaning that the idea was put before the students and the presentation was based on it under supervision. The artist chirped.
In a similar statement, the artist Fayez Qazak explained that the show came as a result of the training and scientific method of young actors and actresses throughout the years of the institute and as the second project based on scientific improvisation after the (Badge) project in 2019, indicating the difficulty of this approach, which depends primarily on the actor's intelligence and culture.
It is noteworthy that the show is starring Ahmed Hammouda, Adam El-Shamy, Aya Agha, Joan Labbad, Giana Eid, Darwish Abdel-Hadi, Razan Naouf, Riad Nahas, Zine El Abidine Marisha, Sarah Baraka, Ali Suleiman, Omar Badran, Ghufran Hawari, Fouz Alia, Karam Shanan, Kinan Kreidi, Murhaf Al-Karad, Muhammad Ghaith Al-Adhami, Wissam Reda, Yara Khoury and Yasmine El-Jabawi. With the participation of students of previous years.
