A surprise strike at Saint-Lazare station impacts lines L, J and RER A

The employees denounce the impact of the work on the daily lives of railway workers and in particular the changes in service hours the day before.

Bad surprise this Wednesday morning for users of the L and J lines of Transilien and on the Cergy-Poissy branch of the RER A. The railway workers "dropped off their bags" and announced an "unexpected" strike.

They denounce an organization of the SNCF in Ile-de-France which weighs on the daily life of the employees: "where previously the company communicated 21 days upstream on the modifications of days of service due to works, this deadline fell these last months to two or three days, or even the day before for the next day!

“, can we read in a press release.

“This means, for example, that instead of finishing at 2 p.m., we are asked to shift the day to work until 6 p.m.

And we warn you the day before.

It's very complicated for family life, if you have to pick up the children or bring them to school,"

According to the railway workers, the cause is the same as that which weighs on the daily lives of users of the RER B or RER D: “the impact of intensive work on the network” as well as “understaffing”.

Added to this was the deployment on lines L, A and J of “new software for programming their days of service (called “Orion”)”.

According to the agents: “The public authorities and the SNCF company are carrying out a policy of major infrastructure works in the Île-de-France region in anticipation of the 2024 Olympics. Nothing could be more normal for that.

Except that this policy has so far been carried out on the backs of driving agents and railway workers in the field”.

“The worst thing is that this work is scheduled a year in advance!

And the SNCF is not able to warn at least 21 days before a change of organization?

»,

These are the same reasons that prompted the agents to strike during the Top 14 final last Friday.

As a result, there are many difficulties this Wednesday on lines L, J and on the RER A branch Cergy-Poissy branch.

The SNCF provides for traffic "severely disrupted throughout the Paris Saint Lazare region until the end of the service, especially this evening during rush hours".

So, if you can, anticipate your movements.
