About a year after he tried to end his life: Yehuda Meshi Zahav passed away

The chairman of Zaka, who is suspected of sexual offenses, has been hospitalized since the suicide attempt at the Herzog Rehabilitation Institute in Jerusalem.

Yehuda Meshi Zahav, founder and chairman of the former ZAKA organization suspected of sexual offenses, passed away this morning (Wednesday).

This, about a year after he tried to end his life.

Since the suicide attempt at his home in Givat Zeev, Zahav has been hospitalized at the Herzog Rehabilitation Institute in Jerusalem.

This morning the Mossad updated on his death.

"After his health deteriorated in recent days, Yehuda Meshi Zahav passed away early in the morning."

In March 2021, an investigation was published in the Haaretz newspaper in which suspicions were raised that he had sexually assaulted and harassed men and women, boys and girls.

About a month after the news was published he tried to commit suicide and has since been hospitalized unconscious, in a coma, to this day.

Following the announcement of the selection of Golden Silk as the winner of the Israel Prize, Haaretz published testimonies according to which Golden Silk used to assault and sexually harass children, boys, girls and women for years.

Meshi Zahav denied the details, but suspended himself from the ZAKA leadership and gave up receiving the Israel Prize. The national unit for fraud investigations in Lahav 433 opened an investigation into the matter

. Prior to the broadcast of the interrogation, he tried to commit suicide at his home, and resuscitation operations were able to return him to signs of life, but he did not regain consciousness and was hospitalized in critical condition at Shaare Zedek Hospital.
