Nothing left of the asphalt surface: now the mountain road in Palzing has to be completely renewed.

Work has been going on for a long time on the Bergstraße in Palzing - sewer renovations.

Now something unforeseen has happened.

And that will be expensive.

It should actually be done quickly: Sewer renovations were due in several streets in the Zollinger district of Palzing.

The mountain road should also be opened for this purpose.

However, thorough road repairs were not planned as part of the measure.

After the commissioned company had started construction, the Paunzhausen Water Association decided at short notice to get involved in the construction project: "In order not to have to completely open the road again themselves, the water association wanted to replace the water valves and hydrants right away," Helmut Priller explained the basic idea.

However, the consequence of the additional measures was that only individual sections remained of the intact asphalt surface.

There was another unpleasant awakening with the concrete gutter stones, which were originally supposed to be preserved: "The gutter stones were set in a completely defective concrete bed," Priller explained the deficit of this construction site, "after the dismantling of the road, all stones were loose and partly dislocated." In addition, after the dismantling, it was also noticed that the frost protection layer in the entire street did not meet the current requirements.

Due to the problems that arose later, it was now recommended to carry out a complete road rehabilitation in the Bergstraße.

"A new frost protection layer has to be created, a new drainage channel and a completely new asphalt surface," explained the mayor of the extra work involved.

67,000 euros additional costs

And of course that costs money.

The municipality of Zolling now has unexpected costs of around 67,000 euros.

The Paunzhausen Water Association will contribute to the additional costs, as Priller explained at the meeting.
