Questioned by AFP, the public prosecutor of Cusset Eric Neveu did not wish to provide additional details.
A judicial investigation for "
voluntary homicide
" had been opened following investigations carried out since May 2020 in this never elucidated case.
The two investigating judges of the judicial court of Cusset seized within the framework of this information made proceed mid-April to the exhumation of the body of the victim to carry out new analyzes.

On December 25, 1995, the headless body of Christophe Doire, a 28-year-old factory worker, was found in a ditch by hunters.
The man, who could be identified thanks to his papers and his clothes, had disappeared the previous December 16, after an evening spent at his brother's.
He left shortly before midnight, announcing his intention to go hunting the next day.
His car had been found on December 18 in Cusset but no one had seen him again.
A first judicial investigation, opened at the time, had resulted in a dismissal in 2000. A second judicial investigation opened in 2002 had also resulted in a dismissal in 2007.
