Camping again at the Windachspeicher from 2024?

A new company building is being built there so that the district youth ring’s campsite at the Windachspeicher can be used again.

Finning - Not rosy times for the district youth ring Landsberg (KJR): The campsite at the Windachspeicher, closed since 2014, is not yet usable.
Actions such as further training, leisure time or workshops have to be avoided.
The problem: there is no farm building with toilets and cooking facilities.
But there is hope for the coming year: as of now, construction wants to start in the spring, says the head of the building department, Christian Kusch.
However, Kusch restricts: The date of completion by the middle of the year hoped for by Kreisjugendring managing director Stefan Ehle - "Summer holidays would be great!" - is probably not possible.
Kusch sets the date at the end of the year.
The planning for the building will be completed this autumn, from then on you can start the tenders.
What is currently exacerbating the situation for the KJR: The youth center in Utting cannot currently be used either because Ukrainian refugees are housed there.
"Of course we were happy to clear the house," emphasizes Ehle.
Looking for substitutes for children's camps and youth groups is "feasible", but not easy.
The campsite in St. Ottilien is fully booked during the school holidays until 2024/25.
That's why they switch to other youth hostels, for example at MTV Dießen, in the Augsburg district or in Wartaweil.
The expenses for these accommodations are a bit higher compared to the costs for the house in Utting, but that is manageable, says Ehle.
Nevertheless, he misses Utting: "We know the house", planning free time is easier there because you know what is possible.
As far as the occupancy of the house with refugees is concerned, a further decision will probably be made in the autumn.
As early as 2010, the number of occupancy of the campsite had decreased due to deficits in the building structure.
The reason for this was the lack of equipment and leisure activities compared to other facilities.
A constant annoyance was the use of the toilets by external bathers from the Windach storage facility.
The square was closed from 2014, along with simultaneous plans for the redevelopment of the site.
A sanitary building should be built near the parking lot, with three washing and showering areas and toilets for each sex, a disabled toilet with shower and a washing and rinsing room.
At the beginning, a lounge and a communal kitchen were also on the wish list, so that 530,000 euros were set at the time.
After no concrete measures were planned by 2020 - partly because there was no building permit - and the renovation would have become much more expensive in the previously planned variant due to increased construction costs, the KJR applied for the construction of a 'downsized' company building at the end of 2020: fewer toilets , no communal kitchen, no common room - more functional, less staying, no access from the inside.
A shelter is enough, as is an outdoor fireplace.
However, this does not reduce the costs.
But they are not increasing drastically either.
The proposal met with goodwill from the district, a decision was made to put 100,000 euros in the 2022 budget, plus 500,000 euros in the 2023 budget. Since the planning did not start, District Councilor Markus Wasserle (SPD) checked again in March of this year and met the responsible people in the district office, says Ehle.
Now that the planning has been assigned, he still hopes for a meeting of all those involved - including the planners - before the summer holidays.
