The Xinhua news agency quoted Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian as saying that the G7 statement exaggerated the narrative of "democracy versus tyranny" and incited confrontation, adding that this fully proves that the G7 does not intend to conduct dialogue and cooperation on the basis of equality and respect, and instead of They cling to Cold War mentality and ideological bias and resort to bloc politics based on the interests of their small groups.

With regard to Hong Kong affairs, Zhao added, since Hong Kong's return to the motherland, the democratic rights and freedoms enjoyed by residents have been guaranteed in accordance with the law.

Zhao stressed that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is an inalienable part of its territory, noting that the separatist activities on Taiwan independence and some countries' attempt to use Taiwan to contain China are the biggest threat to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, stressing that China has the right to take all necessary measures to protect National sovereignty and security.

Noting that the population of the G7 countries represents only one tenth of the world total, Zhao said that they are not in a position to represent the whole world, and a smaller number of the population is still qualified to take their values and standards at the international level, calling on the G7 to seriously assume its responsibilities, implement its due international obligations and protect pluralism real.
