(ANSA) - MILAN, JUN 29 - The Milan prosecutor has opened an investigation into corruption on the resignation of the Brescia city councilor Giovanni Acri, which according to the accusation would have taken place to make room for Giangiacomo Calovini, believed to belong to the political current of the MEP of the Brothers of Italy Carlo Fidanza.
In exchange he would have obtained the hiring of his son on the staff of the same MEP.
For this reason, today the soldiers of the economic-financial police unit of the Guardia di Finanza carried out searches against Acri and his son and gave Fidanza information as a guarantee.
The investigation, coordinated by the adjunct Maurizio Romanelli and by the prosecutor Giovanni Polizzi, is an independent strand with respect to the investigation for illicit financing and money laundering on the alleged 'black lobby' opened last autumn and resulting from the Fanpage journalistic investigation also on alleged black funds for the Fdi electoral campaign for the last Milanese administrative campaigns.
And who already sees among the suspects the same Fidanza, the MEP of the League Angelo Ciocca, the Lombard councilor, also of the Carroccio, Massimiliano Bastoni and the municipal councilor of the Brothers of Italy Chiara Valcepina.
With a press release, the Milan prosecutor Marcello Viola reported that the Gdf carried out searches and acquisitions of documents "against a person" under investigation for "corruption for acts contrary to official duties", namely the now former municipal councilor of Brescia Giovanni Acri, who resigned on 25 June 2021 for personal and professional reasons, as he would have reported at the time.
According to the hypothesis of the prosecution, as the Prosecutor's Office writes, the political exponent of Fdi would have instead left the office "receiving in exchange the utility represented by the hiring of his own son as parliamentary assistant to an MEP", namely Fidanza .
Already last October, in the local media of Brescia, there was talk of an anonymous complaint, which would be at the origin of the
investigation, in which the magistrates were invited to investigate the causes of Acri's resignation and the fact that Giangiacomo Calovini (not Carlovini as previously written), first of the non-elected and close to the political current of Fidanza, had taken over.
And again on the fact that Acre's son had been hired as an assistant in the political secretariat of the MEP.

"I was surprised to learn of this new investigation, which seems to include the contents of an anonymous complaint filed with the Brescia Public Prosecutor's Office in October 2021, a few days after the broadcast of a Fanpage journalistic investigation . Obviously, in politics, you cannot be liked by everyone and probably someone tried to hit me in a moment of difficulty, hiding behind anonymity. I just want to say that I am more than serene, I have not committed any illegal act and I am certain that the investigations will prove it ".
