Plans to build a large solar farm on Gut Hub continue to take shape.

The building committee has now unanimously voted in favor of drawing up a corresponding development plan for the approximately two hectare area.

Penzberg – The new solar park that the Penzberger Stadtwerke want to build on Gut Hub is to be built on an open area between the manor building and the railway line.

This project was met with mixed feelings in Penzberg's city council in January, but was approved by the majority (we reported).

In its most recent meeting, the building committee unanimously voted in favor of drawing up a development plan for the “Solarpark Sonnenwiese” and sent a corresponding recommendation to the city council.

At the same time, the land use plan is to be changed.

At the same time, the public should be involved and the opinions of the authorities and other public bodies should be obtained.

Plant could supply between 650 and 850 households

As city master builder Justus Klement explained, the system could supply between 650 and 850 households in Penzberg with renewable electricity.

The meeting also said that planned infrastructure projects - such as e-mobility - could use renewable electricity.

After the planned useful life of around thirty years, the system should be able to be completely dismantled.

As Klement emphasized, there would be a "dismantling obligation".

Martin Janner (PM) said his parliamentary group had reservations - after all, there were still enough free roofs for PV systems in the city - but the project would still be approved.

He called for the area to only be used extensively after the end of its useful life.

At the meeting, it was also said that the system should stabilize the power grid in the north-west of Penzberg, since two PV systems, each with a peak power of 749 kilowatts, are already feeding into the grid in the south-east.

Implementation is expected from spring 2023.

About two hectares of land on Gut Hub

Stadtwerke board member André Behre explained to the committee members the planned development of the facility, which is to be built on an area of around two hectares - that's the equivalent of a little less than three football pitches.

Accordingly, an existing path leading past the property should be used.

In addition, a temporary path through the area should be created for the construction phase.

A fencing of the area is necessary for insurance reasons, but should be carried out as nature-friendly as possible.

A hedge would be conceivable, for example, which offers habitat and slip-through possibilities for small creatures, says Behre.

Regarding Janner's objection regarding the remaining vacant roof areas, Behre said that the public utility company was trying to "use every free roof".

For example, a solar system should be installed on the new family bathroom.

The municipal company would like to use additional roof areas.

"The Josef-Boos-Halle would be a nice roof," Behre advertised to the committee members.

As the Stadtwerke board of directors said when asked, the solar park on Gut Hub could have an output of around 2.7 megawatts peak according to preliminary calculations.

It will only be possible to say this more precisely in the detailed planning.

Behre put the estimated costs at around 2.5 million euros at this point in time.
