A planned train journey in NRW became a nightmare for a 68-year-old.
The woman was dragged several meters by a train in Kerpen – but was lucky.
Kerpen – On Tuesday morning (June 28), a 68-year-old woman from Bergheim wanted to take a S12 train at Horrem station (Kerpen, Rhein-Erft-Kreis).
As she was about to get in, the door closed.
Since the woman had tried to hold the closing door open with one hand, she was trapped and dragged a few meters.
Kerpen-Horrem: Hand caught in train door – old trains don't have a safety system
According to the police, since the train was a model from an older series, it did not have a safety system for the doors or automated light barriers.
These systems actually ensure that the doors do not close as long as something is in their closing range.

Fortunately, other travelers drew the S12 engine driver's attention to the situation from the platform, so that he immediately stopped the journey and the 68-year-old could be freed.
She was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, as reported by 24RHEIN.
Federal police forces questioned witnesses and secured the scene of the accident.
The further investigations into the course of the accident are still ongoing.
