Damascus-SANA

Today, the Ministry of Health put two “cardiac catheterization 3D imaging” and “multi-slice tomography” devices into service at the General Authority of the Martyr Basil Al-Assad Hospital for Cardiac Diseases and Surgery in Damascus.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghubash, stated that the two devices are among the most modern devices in Syria and enable the doctor to reach an accurate diagnosis, pointing out that the devices that were put into service can provide services to other government hospitals by receiving emergency cases around the clock through technical, qualified and trained staff.

Minister Al-Ghubash stressed that despite the inhumane siege imposed on the Syrian people and the unilateral coercive sanctions, the Syrian government continues to give the health sector priority and attention in order to improve health services provided to citizens.

In turn, the Governor of Damascus, Engineer Adel Al-Olabi, pointed out that the presence of modern devices provides better health and medical care services for citizens and improves their quality, noting the efforts of medical, technical and administrative staff to provide services to patients.

The Director of Medical Engineering in the Ministry, Eng. Muhammad Shammout, indicated the ministry's keenness to support hospitals and health centers with modern and qualitative medical devices within the available capabilities.

The director of the hospital, Dr. Ragheb Suleiman, explained that the CT scan is one of the best types in the world, and it is a multi-slice 160-slice, and it can photograph the coronary heart arteries and the arteries of the lower extremities, and the image takes only 7.5 seconds, while the latest devices take 20 seconds, stressing that the presence of these devices relieves pressure from the rest of the hospitals and serves the largest number of patients.

The assistant director of the hospital, Dr. Ahmed Al-Ayed, explained that the cardiac catheterization device is characterized by three-dimensional imaging of the heart’s arteries and a large screen of 55 inches to display images and mainly serves patients with renal failure, which does not allow them to be injected with sufficient contrast material, which saves the consumption of contrast material and its effect on the kidney.

Member of Parliament Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Jaafari considered the existence of qualitative devices in government hospitals that provide an added value to their services and to the health sector, which continued to provide its services despite the challenges imposed by the terrorist war on Syria and the unjust economic siege.
