Inflation in Saxony weakens somewhat

Despite relief in the transport sector, inflation in Saxony remains comparatively high.
The annual rate of inflation weakened to 7.7 percent in June, the State Statistical Office announced on Wednesday, citing preliminary figures.
In May the figure was 8 percent.
In June, food (+14.3 percent) and energy (+35.8 percent) dominated the overall development.

The prices in the area of passenger transport have fallen by double-digit percentages compared to May.
There were also declines in fuels.
Drivers of petrol vehicles would have benefited more from the reduction in energy tax (-6.4 percent) than owners of diesel vehicles (-0.5 percent).
Food, on the other hand, became more expensive within a month (+1.3 percent).
The Saxons had to pay more for poultry, dairy products and eggs in particular.
