Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Miqdad, affirmed that Syrian diplomacy has succeeded over decades in establishing its position as a continuous institution that does not hesitate to defend the just causes of Syria, the Arab nation and the free peoples of the world, and it was and still is present on the international map, pointing out that the desperate attempts of Syria's enemies have not succeeded in excluding Syria. In a speech during a ceremony honoring former Syrian ambassadors, which was held by the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Miqdad explained that the former and current Syrian diplomats were and still are believers and defenders of the well-established and honorable lines of Syria's principled foreign policy based on defending its territorial integrity, identity, independence and the sovereignty of its national decision.

Minister Miqdad stressed that Syrian diplomats continue to seek to implement the directives of the political leadership by extending bridges of friendship, cooperation and coordination with brothers and friends who share Syria's respect and preservation of the principles of freedom, independence, peace and the right of peoples to self-determination. Minister Miqdad addressed the young diplomats who chose this honorable profession by saying that “the secret of the success of Syrian diplomacy over the past decades has been and will remain linked to the principle and integrity of Syrian foreign policy, clarity of vision of the leadership of this country, pragmatism, flexibility and belief that it deserves from us to be competent, honest, and rightful, honorable and dignified.”

Minister Miqdad called on diplomats to enhance their experiences and expertise and to always remember that Syria has a secure political leadership with a powerful vision that has successfully dealt with various challenges and is still working with the same wisdom and patience to overcome many national, regional and international challenges, foremost of which are the negative effects of the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by them.
