Following a vote, Sébastien Chenu and Hélène Laporte become vice-president of the National Assembly, proof for the left that the digu

89 deputies… and two vice-presidents.

According to the allocation of important positions in the legislature, subject to vote for lack of agreement, the National Rally is firmly established in the hemicycle.

The deputies elected this Wednesday Sébastien Chenu and Hélène Laporte vice-president of the National Assembly, with 290 and 284 votes respectively.

Also accessing this position Naïma Moutchou (Horizons), with 373 votes.

Élodie Jacquier-Laforge (MoDem), 373 votes, Caroline Fiat (La France insoumise) 297 votes and Valérie Rabault (Socialist Party), 367 votes.

The latter is designated first vice-president.

Few candidates officially run for this position, because the candidacies are often the result of political negotiations.

Thus, this election only left two disappointed, the ecological and members of the Nupes Sandrine Rousseau (29 votes), former candidate for the EELV primary, as well as Benjamin Lucas (32 votes).

Republicans have not nominated candidates.

Part of the left was offended by the result.

This absence and the lack of votes obtained by the two environmental candidates would indicate, according to them, that the political forces did not seize their chance to block the far right within the hemicycle.

“The three groups are organizing to prevent us from having access to important functions in the National Assembly…”, lambasted LFI MP Clémentine Autain on Twitter.

Sandrine Rousseau also hastened to denounce like many of her comrades from Nupes, "the agreement", which would have allowed the RN to recover two posts of vice-president in the Assembly this Wednesday.

"There you go, the masks fall," she posted on Twitter.

Adrien Quatennens even believes he has proof of an agreement, ballot in hand.

The majority blames Nupes: “The two environmental candidates did not receive all the votes from their intergroups, they did not even vote for theirs!

“Replies the president of the LREM group to the Assembly, Aurore Bergé, in the corridors of the Palais-Bourbon.

Questioned by a journalist from Le Figaro, one of the rejected environmental candidates Benjamin Lucas justifies the fact that the Nupes did not vote EELV.

The two green candidacies would have been a trap, intended to highlight possible negotiations between LREM and the RN.

“Our applications, with Sandrine Rousseau, were intended for the majority.

We could not let believe that an agreement, even tacit, was possible with the RN… ”.

Still, at this stage, nothing proves what the left asserts, the vote being by secret ballot.
