Adolescents must be taught to love the Bible, to draw closer to the depths of its laws and values. Every year again, on the eve of the great holiday and at the end of the Hebrew book month, I ask myself: Where did I get my love for the book of books? And answers: My teacher for life - Tzipora Gilad, who planted in us the stories of the Bible and his psalms from childhood and from which we also acquired the love of the land through the trips in the light of the sources, with the book of the Bibl

Every year again, on the eve of the great holiday and at the end of the Hebrew book month, I ask myself: Where did I get my love for the book of books?

And answers: My teacher for life - Tzipora Gilad, who planted in us the stories of the Bible and his psalms from childhood and from which we also acquired the love of the land through the trips in the light of the sources, with the book of the Bible in our hands.

When I sing with devotion and longing, in the synagogue at Kibbutz Beit Hashita, I feel the psalms, as Naomi Shemer wrote, that I return to the "cisterns" and "the ancient words give me strength."

Each time again, in the circle of singing together, as we sing the song of virtues, my throat chokes and my eyes water.

I see before my eyes again and again the first farmers in the Land of Israel and in the valley in particular, plowing and weighing, sowing and reaping, gathering their crops and rejoicing in some of them.

After all, this is exactly the song of the settlers who ascended to the rocky lands, breathed life into them and turned them into a grain barn that fills up every year anew: a

song, the virtues: In the return of the LORD,

For me, the Bible is our genetic code, a book that includes and lies in - the beginning and the end. The story of the formation of the world and man, the story of the birth and history of the people of Israel, values and morals "And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast: thou, and thy son, and thy daughter, and thy manservant, and thy maidservant;

And more, including the Bible within it - universal poetry about the temporary. Songs of grace and love, thought and wisdom, prophecy and vision

.

The converted Jewish poet Heinrich Heine - (1797-1856) who all his life remained faithful to his Judaism, wrote about the Bible:

"An old and humble book, humble as nature and greatness will not ask.

As the sun warms us, as bread that sustains us.

A book that looks at us with kindness and warmth, with a blessing of kindness.

And the name of this book is simple - 'The Book of Books' and also 'Scriptures'.

He who has lost his God - will be found again in this book.

And those who have never known - the soul of God's nose blows here towards him. "

I will add an excerpt from Yehuda Amichai's poem that expresses my connection and my continued love for the Bible:

Bible Bible with you with you, like a Torah scroll,

from the beginning to this blessing, and

back we roll together

and every year our love is renewed and strengthened.

The Bible, said David Ben-Gurion, is - "our 'Kushan' on this land."

That is why the Bible is so important for strengthening the Jewish identity of the younger generation.

And so I state absolutely clearly - the study of the Bible must not be cut down, must not be underestimated

;

Adolescents must be taught to love the Bible, to draw closer to the depths of its laws and values.

Only in this way will we succeed in bringing the generations of our sons, grandsons and great-grandchildren closer to our beautiful and good land.
