Following a woman engaged in the front line in the regular Ukrainian army, such was the objective of Véronique de Viguerie.

Not easy, however, to obtain a pass while the authorities keep the press away from the front.

However, the photojournalist who works for

Le Figaro Magazine

and who we follow in the film by Charles Comiti and Julien Boluen,

Ukraine: women in war

, ended up obtaining authorization.

"I don't want to shoot, but if I have to I will"

Iana, 30, appears on screen with a sparkling gaze and an enthusiastic smile.

We discover her while she is, with her unit made up of several hundred men, stationed in an abandoned farm in the south of the country.

The young woman, in fatigues, rifle in hand, displays her determination:

“My weapon is a Kalashnikov submachine gun.

(…) I don't want to shoot (…) but if necessary, I will of course.”

The one who studied geology and who joined the army after the Russian invasion of February 24 confides:
