The branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in Deir ez-Zor continues to receive the wheat crop from the propagating fields of contracting farmers for the current agricultural season to secure seeds for the coming seasons, and the process continues.
The director of the branch, Eng. Jihad Shaaban, said in a statement to SANA reporter that the marketing operations are proceeding at a good pace and without any obstacles and according to the simplified procedures in terms of accelerating the marketing and receiving processes and paying the incentive price, as 1523 tons have been marketed to date, pointing out that the branch is taking samples from the fields of contracted farmers and examining them in The directorate’s laboratory, and if it meets the standards, the farmer is informed of the supply of his crop to the receiving center in the city of Deir ez-Zor, where samples are taken from the supplied cars and examined in the secret room to ensure their conformity with the samples taken from the fields. After that, the wheat is stored according to each type.
Shaaban said: The cultivated areas contracted to supply them to the seed multiplication center include various hard and soft varieties, Sham 7, 3 hard, Sham 4 soft, Douma 2 soft, in addition to the varieties contracted with FAO, Sham 10, 4 soft, Sham 7, 9 hard, Douma 2 and 4 Soft, pointing out that the institution pays the farmers who market their production a bonus in excess of the price set by the Grain Corporation according to the grade of the wheat, and the exchange operations are carried out through the Agricultural Bank within 24 hours from the date of delivery.
In turn, the head of the receiving center, Eng. Mohamed Nour Abdel Wahed, explained that the institution has equipped the center with all the basic needs to ensure the success of the marketing process, which included the preparation of open yards, the laboratory, storage requirements, sterilization, and work cadres.
For their part, a number of farmers indicated their satisfaction with the simplified procedures and facilities provided to them during marketing operations, noting the step of increasing the marketing price set by the government for their crops this season.
It is noteworthy that the area of land contracted with the Propagation Corporation in the governorate amounts to about 17800 dunums of breeding fields, while the marketing plan for this season is 7,000 tons of wheat seed.
