The fruits of the coalition did not reach the Arab street Israel today

2022-06-29T20:45:41.300Z

Maybe Arab society should stop relying only on its representatives from the sector? • Maybe we should look for more partners in the struggle, in the changing political situation and in an age where ideologies are being erased

Politicians are scattering the Knesset and we, the citizens, are living our lives and dealing with everyday life in Israel.

Sometimes it seems that there are two companies within Israeli society: those who complain about the cost of living, and those who wait for the state to remember that they too are tax-paying citizens.

The Arab politicians, who wanted to justify achievements from their seat in the government also in the run-up to the next election, and worked to increase the budgets for strengthening public systems, were unable to connect to the field and reality.

In practice, less than 40 percent of the murders of women in Arab society are deciphered because Arab women are not considered a public to be considered.

Increasing the personal security of women in Arab society was not part of the coalition demands of Arab politicians.

Police have not put the treatment of violence against women at the forefront of their minds, and the assassination of Johara Hanif's earlier this month - who herself fought against violence in Arab society - shows that no one is safe.

On the economic side, it seems that everyone wanted to flaunt achievements and legislation that would increase the minimum wage per hour, but the unemployment rate of women in Arab society remained as it was.

In fact, while the unemployment rate in Israel recorded an achievement when it dropped dramatically, there is only one place where it has not changed.

According to the CBS, Arab women are still not employed or are unable to be accepted full-time or advance beyond the minimum wage.

If women usually have to work twice as much as a man to be successful - an Arab woman has to work four times as much.

We deal with family, with employees, with taxes and bureaucracy like everyone else, but also with rivals who do not view our success favorably.

Last year we felt that there was a diverse and broad coalition to enable this infrastructure for us.

How can a whole year of such a coalition be over - and we're still behind in our work plans and annual budget?

Politicians from Arab society must faithfully represent us and demand achievements in the areas of personal security and employment, life and welfare.

With the election imminent, the question arises: perhaps Arab society should stop relying solely on its representatives from the sector?

Maybe we should look for more partners in the struggle, in the changing political situation and in an age where ideologies are being erased?

In order for us to reap the fruits of our economic achievements and for more Arab women to go out to work and earn equal or higher wages, we need to feel secure.

This is what all our elected officials should work on.
