A 100 meter high office tower called "Nion" is being built in Frankfurt's Europaviertel.

The entrance area should be as accessible as possible.

A halfpipe is also under discussion.

Frankfurt – On the undeveloped property on the Emser Bridge in Frankfurt's Europaviertel, on which a residential tower in the Porsche design was once supposed to be built, a more than 100 meter high office tower called "Nion" with around 45,000 square meters of gross floor area is now to be built.

The Frankfurt project developer Groß & Partner, who acquired the 3,200 square meter site in September 2020, intends to build it according to plans by UN-Studio.

The Amsterdam office is already working for Groß & Partner on the construction of the four-tower high-rise complex “Four” in downtown Frankfurt.

In the architectural competition for the project on Europa-Allee, it initially emerged as the winner together with the Berlin office of Grüntuch Ernst Architekten.

In the subsequent revision phase, it prevailed against this, as reported by fr.de.

Frankfurt high-rise gets photovoltaic facade and uses geothermal energy

According to Groß & Partner, the new high-rise building, whose construction could begin next year, is “designed to be green throughout”.

A photovoltaic façade and the use of geothermal energy should cover 70 percent of the heating requirements, 30 percent of the cooling requirements and ten percent of the electricity requirements of the tower, as Managing Director José Martinez explained on Tuesday when the competition results were presented.

The green of the park that is being built on an adjacent property will extend into the high-rise building, it said.

Its completion is scheduled for early 2026.

According to the wishes of the city, but also that of the project developer, the entrance area of the tower should not only be as accessible as possible from an architectural point of view.

As Head of Planning Mike Josef (SPD) said in the atrium of the department building, there could also be studios in addition to a café in the base.

In addition, it was agreed that space would be available for rents of no more than 15 euros per square meter.

Water tower in Frankfurt's Gallus district is to be renovated and used

Josef emphasized on Tuesday that the project must bring added value to the environment in the transition from Europaviertel to Gallus.

Exercise offers for young people are important to him.

"I'd like to have a halfpipe there," he said.

This could arise in the vicinity of the high-rise building or maybe even in it.

Martinez called the suggestion charming.

The listed water tower in the future park adjacent to the high-rise is to be renovated and used according to the ideas of the city and the project developer.

Martinez and Josef assured that there are already ideas of what could happen in it.

Both brought up art in the tower.
