Cyclists should not miss these seven bike tours.
Have you already planned your
summer vacation
?
Instead of waiting in crowded airports to see if a flight is canceled or just postponed, how about a
bike ride
?
In a press release , the
online travel
platform Evaneos published
seven insider tips for cycle tours in Europe
that are not overwhelmed by
mass cycle tourism
.
Discover beautiful corners of the earth within Europe while relaxing on your bike
Cycling is not only good for the body and your health, the
budget
and the
environment
are also much less affected on a bike tour than on a flight.
So if you want to travel particularly
sustainably and cheaply
, a bike tour is a good idea.
And you don't have to travel that far for that.
There are many beautiful bike tours within
Germany
, and the €9 ticket also invites you to grab your bike and explore different corners of the world within Germany.
If you do want to go
abroad
, according to
Evaneos
, there are also recommended bike tours in neighboring countries, such as
Austria
or
France
.
But
Turkey, Albania, Portugal, Italy and Ireland
also have beautiful routes that you should explore by bike.
1. By bike to Lake Hallstatt in Austria's mountains
There is a little-known cycle route for professionals or hobby cyclists in Austria at the
Wolfgangsee
on the border between the Salzburger Land and Upper Austria.
The tour leads from Bad Ischl via Traun, Laufen and Bad Goisern to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hallstatt.
Let yourself be enchanted by Austria's mountains and beautiful lakes, which can be explored up close by bike.
2. Holiday by bike: around the fairy chimneys in Turkey
Also a World Heritage Site is the Turkish region
of Cappadocia
.
According to Evaneos
, a unique mountain bike tour starts
in the small town of Mustafapasha with mighty stone houses and churches and leads on gravel paths through Ayvali to Bahceli and then into the Akvadi valley, also called the "white valley".
Here cyclists can marvel at the impressive, high fairy chimneys.

Have you ever done a bike tour at an altitude of 2,000 meters?
The
route proposed by
Evaneos through the
Pindos Mountains
in Albania leads from Korça to the picturesque village of Voskopoje with 500 inhabitants, past the Grammos Mountain on the border with Greece to the small and original village of Rehova with its distinctive, traditional stone houses.
4. Along the Garonne in France by bike
There is a wonderful route for cycling in France along the

An insider tip is the approximately 55-kilometer route from Sérignac sur Garonne to the small town of Moissac.
On this bike route you will pass the city of Agen with its impressive canal bridge, which is the second largest of its kind in France at 550 meters long.
5th bike tour: On the road on the green peninsula of Renvyle in Ireland
Real nature fans should explore
Ireland's Renvyle Peninsula by
bike.
The roads with little traffic lead you through the green hills and an impressive coastal landscape with secluded beaches.
Past the ruins of Grace O'Malley Castle and the scenic Rinvyle Point, bikers also come through the only villages on the peninsula, Tully and Tully Cross.
Enjoy the green landscape with a view of the Atlantic.
6. From Arcos de Valdevez to the oldest city in Portugal
According to Evaneos, there is also a beautiful cycle path in Portugal.
From
Arcos de Valdevez
it's 20 kilometers down the river to
Ponte de Lima
.
In between, the historic city palace Casa do Terreiro from the 18th century and idyllic lagoons await you.

7. On the city walls through Lucca in Italy
There is a particularly family-friendly cycle route 20 kilometers from Pisa in the Italian city of
Lucca
.
On the
twelve meter high city wall
you walk around the center of the city high above the city gates.
Trees provide shade along the four-kilometer route, which is shaped by the historical surroundings.
And if that's too short, you can then continue cruising on your bike into the green hills of
Tuscany
.
