From March, Westerners, via the Repo task force, tracked down the assets and property of Vladimir Putin's oligarchs.

Impressive.

The United States and its allies have frozen more than $330 billion in Russian assets since the start of the conflict in Ukraine, the US Treasury said on Wednesday.

In detail, Western allies have blocked $30 billion in assets held by sanctioned Russian oligarchs or elites, and "immobilized" some $300 billion from the Russian Central Bank, a statement issued by the "task force" of Western allies responsible for tracking the assets of Russian elites (Repo), and published by the US Treasury.

Also seized were at least five luxury yachts and real estate owned or controlled by sanctioned Russian nationals.

"Together, we will ensure that sanctions continue to impose costs on Russia for its unprovoked and prolonged aggression in Ukraine," the statement said.

"The Repo's work is not finished"

The Repo Task Force was formed on March 17, three weeks into Moscow's invasion of Ukraine, to increase economic pressure on Russia.

It is made up of senior officials from the Departments of Finance or Justice of the United States, Australia, France, Canada, Germany, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom and the European Commission.

In particular, it has given itself the task of targeting the luxury properties and megayachts of Russian billionaires close to Vladimir Putin.

Members of the task force further attempt to isolate Moscow from the global financial system and have limited Russia's ability to acquire advanced technologies.

On Sunday, on the first day of exchanges at their summit in Germany, the leaders of the G7 had announced an embargo on newly mined gold in Russia, in order to prevent Moscow and the country's oligarchs from using the precious metal for circumvent the sanctions.

In its statement, the Repo warns that it will continue to track the assets of Russian elites.

“Repo's work is not done,” she says.

“We continue to increase the cost of his war for Russia.
