Andrés Manuel López Obrador has been involved in a controversy for two days.

The president charged this week harshly against Carlos Alazraki, a Jewish publicist highly critical of the government, assuring that "he is of Hitlerian thought" and "extremely conservative", as he said this Wednesday and repeated this Thursday.

Among the things that the president criticized, he reproached him for telling many lies against him just to harm him.

The root of the anger was an alleged false news that affected the Felipe Ángeles Airport, one of the flagship works of this six-year term.

The comment generated the rejection of the Jewish community that has rejected "the use of the Hitlerian term to refer to any person," according to a statement they issued.

Alazraki responded with a letter in which he said that he was "proudly Jewish."

Like every week, López Obrador's morning conference this Wednesday included the controversial section in which the Mexican government reports what it considers to be the false news of recent days.

This time it began with a broadcast of Atypical Te Ve, a YouTube channel created by Alazraki.

The journalist and former opposition politician Beatriz Pagés was seen in the program stating that “very strange things” are happening at the Felipe Ángeles Airport.

“There are Venezuelan planes loaded with Venezuelans, they are arriving in Mexico without going through immigration.

We are full of illegals, people without documentation and we don't know what they come to Mexico to do."

Beside him, Alazraki and political analyst Javier Lozano nodded.

The exhibition of the video in the morning was designed to reproach comments of this nature without having proof of the facts.

But the claim did not stop there.

López Obrador escalated the conflict by talking about the differences he has with the publicist, who also writes columns in the newspaper El Universal

often in a violent tone.

“He is extremely conservative, he is like a Hitlerian,” said the president, “it is thought that because Hitler no longer exists or Stalin, or Franco, or Mussolini no longer exists, Nazi, fascist, Stalinist, right-wing thought has already disappeared. Spanish rancid.

No, that exists."

The phrase sparked the anger of members of the Jewish community who issued a statement to point out that "any comparison with the most bloodthirsty regime in history is regrettable and unacceptable."

The document is signed by representatives of the Central Committee and the Tribuna Israelita, two of the main community organizations in Mexico.

They were joined by journalists and opposition figures, who reproached him for using such expressions lightly.

For his part, Alazraki responded with a column in which he accepts being neoliberal, conservative and fifi.

“And do you know who I owe all this to?

To my beloved Mexico, which has given me all the opportunities to develop myself, just like the majority of many Mexicans,” he wrote this Thursday.

He also posted a video in which he adds:

The fight escalated to such a point that the president was questioned again this Thursday on the subject.

"Mr. Alazraki, because he is a follower of Hitler's thought," López Obrador reaffirmed.

The comparison is due to an old quote from the publicist that, according to the president, positions him in line with Nazism, because he endorses the practice that a repeated lie becomes the truth.

"The more lies you give against Morena, the better it goes for you," the communicator is heard saying about the government party in a video that the president played this Thursday at the National Palace.

Alazraki founded a company that was in charge in the last decade of advertising for large conglomerates, such as Grupo Sanborns and Telmex.

He also worked on the political campaigns of former President Ernesto Zedillo and PRI member Roberto Madrazo.

Asked about the reaction of the Jewish community, López Obrador assured that he has "very good friends in the Jewish community."

And he added: “They are exceptional builders, hard-working people, good people, but that does not mean that the entire community has a kind of letter of marque to be able to harm, affect a movement of transformation just because of their ideals, their thoughts, their conservatism and, I repeat, his Hitlerism.”
