Vladimir Putin has responded to jokes by G7 leaders and takes a dim view of them.

The naked Johnson or Trudeau would be a "disgusting sight".

Ashgabat - It was meant as a joke, but in Russia it attracts the contempt of Russian President Vladimir Putin: On the sidelines of the past G7 summit at Schloss Elmau in Bavaria, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Canadian colleague Justin Trudeau spoke about the cult-like worship joked by Putin.

The focus of the jokes at the G7 summit were photos of the Russian showing him shirtless.

Especially in the early 2000s, Putin liked to present his sporting side.

Sometimes he stood shirtless while fishing or rode on a horse through wild landscapes.

Then as now, the recordings caused derisive comments, especially in the West.

Vladimir Putin: Naked G7 leaders – Johnson and Trudeau make fun of Kremlin boss

Shortly before the first working session, the G7 heads of state and government made fun of Vladimir Putin.

Johnson questioned whether jackets were to be removed given the high temperatures, adding: "We all have to show that we're tougher than Putin." As it turned out, that was a through ball for Trudeau: riding bare-chested, you have to do that, he said, alluding to a well-known photo of Putin in exactly this pose.

"I don't know how they wanted to undress, above or below the waistline.

In any case, I think it would have been a disgusting sight,” Putin told the Russian news agency TASS, making it abundantly clear what he thought of the G7 leaders' jokes.

At the same time, he also quantified a problem that, in his opinion, men in Western countries had to face: To be athletic, you have to do sports, according to Putin.

In addition, one should not drink too much alcohol and not pursue bad habits, he instructed the heads of government of the industrialized countries.

Vladimir Putin and toxic masculinity: Johnson makes sharp allegations

Even if Vladimir Putin, whom Johnson also called the epitome of "toxic masculinity", has been photographed less and less shirtless in recent years, envious people have to admit: The Russian president was really fit, at least for a while.

How far the cult of Vladimir Putin goes in Russia has been shown again and again in recent decades.

Small figures, printed T-shirts, mugs or annual calendars: they all depicted the Russian president in top form.

After 2014 and the annexation of Crimea, the cult surrounding the Kremlin chief was fueled again.

Prints of Putin in martial poses, showing his superiority over the West, were particularly popular.

Mockery of G7 summit: Vladimir Putin's personality cult sparks discussion

Everyone has to judge for themselves to what extent Putin's criticism of the physical condition of the G7 leaders at the G7 summit is justified.

However, Boris Johnson has not always shown his sportiest side on past jogging laps.

In some cases, however, these snapshots were taken several years ago and it is perhaps at a tense time when the Ukraine war is threatening to spread that heads of government should not reduce their counterparts to external attributes.

By the way: According to reports, Johnson is one of the "Sexists of the Year".
