There was great interest: Christiane Regauer and Andreas Scharli from EWO presented an energy use plan for the municipality of Eurasburg in the Gasthof zur Mühle.

The Oberland energy transition has presented an energy use plan for the Eurasburg municipality.

Her conclusion: There is still a lot of potential.

Eurasburg – The municipality of Eurasburg has set itself the goal of becoming independent of fossil fuels in the coming years.

The Oberland Energy Transition Competence Center (EWO) in Penzberg has therefore drawn up an energy use plan for them.

Christiane Regauer and Andreas Scharli introduced him at a public council meeting in the Gasthaus zur Mühle in Beuerberg.

"The current geopolitical crisis and the now noticeable climate change require rapid implementation of the energy transition on site so that our region remains sustainable," writes Mayor Moritz Sappl in the foreword to the study result, which will soon be published on the municipality's website.

Total energy consumption of the Eurasburger 42 percent for heat

According to EWO surveys, the total energy consumption of the Eurasburgers is 42 percent for heat, 38 percent for transport and 19 percent for electricity.

The power consumption is 20,000 megawatt hours per year.

50 percent of this can currently be covered by the renewable energies of photovoltaics (PV), biomass and hydropower.

Christiane Regauer said that the 200 PV systems in the community are a lot, but only 13 percent of the suitable roof areas are used.

She recommends that citizens look into the district's solar cadastre.

Everyone can see there whether their roof is suitable for a system.

There is great potential in ground-mounted PV systems

There is great potential in ground-mounted PV systems, said Regauer.

Wind power has been left out by the EWO for the time being because it is regulated nationally and not by the municipalities.

The Greens councilors Hans Urban and Jakob Koch nevertheless suggested looking for a location on their own, together with the neighboring municipality of Münsing.

Koch: "We should think about wind power as soon as possible."

It looks worse when it comes to heat with self-sufficiency.

According to Andreas Scharli, only about 15 percent is generated with wood chips, pellets, solar thermal energy and heat pumps.

More heat pumps are certainly possible in the future.

Here, too, citizens can use the Energy Atlas of Bavaria to check the suitability of their property.

The construction of a local heating network would also be an option in Beuerberg.

In a survey, 107 citizens expressed an interest in joining.

The largest buyer would be the Beuerberg monastery, which urgently needs new heating anyway.

With a combined heat and power plant, one could get away from the current 400,000 liters of heating oil - 1100 tons of carbon dioxide - that are consumed in Beuerberg per year.

In Austria, according to Scharli, entire villages are supplied by central wood chip systems.

However, you have to make sure that not too much heat is lost through pipes that are too long in the ground.

For Eurasburg and Achmühle, on the other hand, the expert recommended smaller isolated solutions.

A lot would be achieved if two or three neighbors got together, he said.

Sappl appealed to the citizens: "Talk to each other and talk to your heating engineer."

Municipality is looking for a location for a combined heat and power plant

Jakob Koch wanted to know how long it would take for a "village heating system in Beuerberg" to go into operation.

Many residents urgently want to replace their old oil heating systems and are waiting for a local heating network.

Scharli called a period of five years realistic.

Sappl said the community was already looking for a site for a combined heat and power plant.

Two wood chip boilers should be able to substitute for each other there, so that you don't need a gas replacement boiler.

Every household should also have a buffer storage tank with a capacity of 1000 litres.

The aim would be not to need local heating in summer.

A large heat pump at the hydroelectric power station on the Loisach could possibly help out during the summer months.

Koch reminded us not to forget the traffic with at least 38 percent total CO2 consumption.

The expansion of local public transport (ÖPNV) must be promoted across the district.

Further information events on local heating in the Eurasburg districts are to follow.
